Mission
The ROOF Association aims to promote and protect art, culture, traditions, and local products. It also seeks to evaluate and sustainably use natural resources to foster tourism development, while protecting the environment, cultural heritage, and the local economy. Our Main Activities include:
- Scientific Research
- Study
- Preservation and Management
- Public Awareness and Advocacy
Our activities are primarily focused within Albania, but they may extend to neighboring countries through cross-border projects in collaboration with existing or new partners.
Our Vision
The ROOF Association prioritizes the following objectives:
- To promote and communicate initiatives that enhance regional development and strengthen the local economy.
- To establish research groups that study social, environmental, and cultural phenomena, providing solutions that improve the well-being of individuals and communities.
- To organize training courses and capacity-building programs that support technical staff, local artisans, owners of traditional houses, B&Bs, and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.
- To support public institutions and private enterprises in designing and implementing economic, social, and cultural programs.
- To foster continuous learning in cooperation with local institutions, increasing collaboration and efficiency in local governance.
- To address social issues and undertake actions that support individuals and groups affected by them.
Our History
ROOF is an Albanian non-governmental organization based in the southern region of Albania, with activities implemented throughout the entire southern area.
The organization was established as an NGO by Court Decision No.3835, dated April 17, 2014, as a joint initiative by several professors from the University of Gjirokastër.
